What Should a Sandton or Johannesburg Business Website Include in 2026?
The short version
A professional services website in Sandton or Johannesburg needs six things: an obvious way to book a call, a specific description of what you actually do, the credentials or team behind the work, the areas you serve, fast and polished loading, and business details that match your Google listing. Generic stock photography, vague mission statements and a slow site all quietly undermine the credibility the site is supposed to build.
Most website quotes come with a feature list, and a lot of it exists to justify the price rather than to get a call booked.
Here's what actually matters on a consultant or professional firm's website in Sandton or Johannesburg, and what's safe to leave out.
An obvious way to book a call
The path from landing on your homepage to booking a consultation or sending an enquiry should be one click, not a hunt through a menu. A phone number should start a call when tapped. A calendar link or a simple enquiry form both work, but whichever you use, it needs to be visible without scrolling.
A specific description of what you actually do
"Strategic solutions for growing businesses" tells a visitor nothing. Name the services: tax structuring, commercial litigation, financial modelling, whatever is actually true. The specific version is what someone searches for, and it's what convinces them you've handled their exact problem before.
The credentials or team behind the work
In professional services, people are hiring a person or a team, not a logo. A real photo, a short bio, relevant qualifications and years of experience do more to build trust than a page of mission-statement language. This matters more in Sandton than almost anywhere else in the country, where the bar for polish is set high and a generic team page stands out for the wrong reasons.
The areas you actually serve
Say where you're based and where you work: Sandton, Rosebank, Bryanston, Fourways, Midrand, or further afield if that's genuinely true. It tells a visitor whether you're a realistic option before they enquire, and it gives Google the geography it needs to connect you to local searches.
Fast, polished loading
Joburg moves fast, and a site that takes six seconds to load reads as a firm that doesn't. Sliders, heavy animation, embedded social feeds and tracking scripts all cost loading time, and most of them add nothing to whether someone books a call.
Details that match your Google listing
Your firm's name, phone number and address should be identical on your website and your Google Business Profile. Mismatches make Google less confident the two belong together, which weakens both.
What you can safely skip
In my experience these rarely earn their place on a small professional services site:
- A homepage slider, visitors almost never wait for slide two
- Stock photography of generic people shaking hands
- A vague mission statement with no specifics underneath it
- A live chat widget nobody is available to answer
- A blog you'll never write a second post for
None of this requires a big budget. It requires deciding what the site is for, almost always turning a visit into a booked call, and refusing to add anything that doesn't serve that.
If you'd like that done properly, that's the whole of what I do: web design in Sandton and Johannesburg, built by hand, hosted and looked after afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
What should a consultant's website include?
At minimum: an obvious way to book a call, a specific description of your services, a real team or credentials section, the areas you serve, fast loading, and business details that match your Google Business Profile exactly.
Do I need a case studies page?
If you have client work you can reference, even anonymised, yes. It does more to build trust than almost any other section on a professional services site.
Should my website have a booking calendar?
If most of your new business starts with a discovery call, a direct booking link removes a step and gets a call on the calendar faster than a contact form alone.
